Catching the wind at Lake Lowell

Steve Christianson maneuvered his sailboat on Lake Lowell and caught just the right amount of wind to make a run.

Lake Lowell was the scene of the Southern Idaho Sailing Association's Learn to Sail day and the morning was kind to the sailors and their new crews.

More than a dozen sailboats were out on the water most of the day except for a lull in the wind in the afternoon.

The sailing association will have a race Sunday (May 18) and boats will be launching in the morning from the west bank boat launch.  Races start at 10 a.m.

Lake Lowell had plenty of water for boating as do other reservoirs across the southern part of the state.

We'll have a full recreation report in Idaho Outdoors on May 22 and it will include what campgrounds and trails are open and water levels.
