OK, don't laugh. I'm serious about this.
I wear bright orange gloves for commuting on my bicycle. First of all, they are well seen by motorists, even when you have your hands on the handlebars.
But they really work effectively when you make hand signals for turning left or right. They're pretty bright, even in low light.
Mine are just orange work gloves I got at a hardware store for $7. You can find "Hunter Orange" gloves at sporting goods stores.
They are nothing fancy but alerting drivers is pretty important.
I know, it's a pretty nerdy bicycling tip but I found that they really work.
