Imagine Boise without a Greenbelt. Imagine the Boise River unfit for swimming, littered with rotting animal parts, junk cars and barbed wire. Imagine a shotgun warning you off a tempting trail through the Foothills.
Forward-thinking people dreamed up and funded the river cleanup, the Greenbelt, and the Ridge to Rivers trail system that now lures hikers, bikers and equestrians from all over the city, while providing habitat for native plants and animals.
Together, Foothills open spaces and the Boise River are the crown jewels that foster growth and economic development. These assets set Boise apart from other communities and lure clean commerce. Employers need an active, healthy work force. As our community grows we need to continue expanding and maintaining Boise’s crown jewels.
Whether you physically use these assets or not, they contribute to the viability of the great city you live in. The levy will cost you less than one gallon of gas per month for each $100,000 of your assessed residential property value for only two years. Please vote for the 2015 Foothills Open Space and Boise River Levy on Nov. 3.
