Ada Country is apparently refusing to maintain the Greenbelt bike path over Plantation Island between Boise and Garden City, this despite the fact (as I’ve been told) that they have the easement for the path.
They are apparently also refusing to maintain the two bridges on the two sides of the island which connect the Greenbelt between Boise and Garden City.
I have been complaining to Ada County since 2008 about the condition of the path on Plantation.
The island is owned (apparently from a donation) by the Idaho Foundation for Idaho Parks and Lands. I know of no landowners that are required to maintain the Greenbelt after they have given Boise, Garden City or the county an easement. It seems to me that the county is responsible for maintenance of its portion of the Greenbelt. This also applies to the portion of the Greenbelt next to the racetrack.
It seems that shaming the county is possible or the other option is a fundraiser on the Greenbelt.
There is a major parking area on Glenwood for the Greenbelt. Heading toward Boise from there requires that riders and walkers go over these less-than-optimal portions of the Greenbelt.
