Stopped at an intersection recently, I observed the driver behind me obviously checking their mobile device. Was the driver checking or sending a text, maybe updates to their stock portfolio or watching an amusing YouTube video? Regardless or the reason, the driver knows this is illegal but chooses not to care. This uncaring attitude is epidemic. As I proceeded through I kept a wary eye on the device user behind me as they continued to do whatever they were doing while stopped. Fortunate for me, the device user and anyone else that could be involved in an accident, nothing happened, at least not on this occasion. I can’t help wondering, however, how long before this person or someone like them causes personal injury, property damage or even death to the parent with children in the vehicle, your spouse, or grandparents? Wake up and be respectful of others, get over yourself, you’re not that important, is what I would have liked to say to this individual.
