This morning, Aug. 1, I clicked on the letter to the editor entitled “Jet noise.” I was thoroughly expecting a rant about how horribly noisy and irritating the F-15 jets were.
Carol Stollfus wrote that the “noise” is “the sound of freedom.” Thank you, Carol. That is exactly the phrase I was prepared to submit, to refute the rant I expected. It made my day to read in the Statesman what so many Idahoans instinctively know and appreciate; that the U.S. military is the protector of our God-given freedoms, including the right to rail against them.
