As a longtime patron with kids and grandkids attending school in West Ada district, and as a former teacher in the district myself, I’ve seen the usual ups and down as the school board works with the administration. But the general tone has been cooperative with the well-being of the students in mind. Now I am confused by reports of the current activities of the school board and recent letters to the editor in the Statesman.
Outspoken is OK but why are the three new trustees so critical and combative? Is there any harmony between them and the experienced trustees? And why is Sarah Holt, the daughter of the new trustee, Russell Joki, joining the fray by writing biased letters to the Statesman that encourage controversy and discourage finding common ground?
I would like to see the Statesman cover the school board meetings and get us more factual information. Hopefully this could lead to a collaboration rather than the present status. Let’s work together again and move forward for the sake of the students in this District.
