What’s wrong with this picture?
You buy a $20,000 car and you get a five-year warranty, free oil changes and great customer service. They call and remind you when it’s time for service, and if something goes wrong, you can get it fixed or scheduled for repairs within a couple days. When you call the dealer you get to talk to a real person or at least they get back with you within an hour.
Now you buy a nice-looking brand-new $200,000+ home and you only get a one-year very limited warranty and you never hear from the contractor again. Not even a thank you. You call and leave messages, no returned calls. You call again and the mailbox is full. After trying for several months trying to make contact, you send a polite letter hoping they receive the letter, still no response. Several more weeks go by and still no luck, so you send the letter again but this time certified with signature back. Hooray, I got the green card back. Guess what? More months go by and still no response.
So where do we go from here?
