I read the George Will commentary in the Aug. 10 edition and I question his math.
He states that 100,000 Mexicans have died in drug-related violence in the past 10 years. He then says that is many more than twice the number of American fatalities in Vietnam. The actual number from combat and other causes is 58,220 and counting from the Vietnam conflict, which means drug-related deaths would need to be 116,000-plus to be just twice as much, far from many more than twice.
And it is Smokey Bear. You do not say Donald the Duck or Mickey the Mouse do you?
Finally, are the Idaho Statesman and Saint Alphonsus owned by the same people? Just wondering.
