Diversity is critical to the Boise Valley’s future. Like it or not, our region is more than on the map now. For all the reasons those of us that live here love this place, it has been discovered by businesses across the country and internationally. At the region’s economic development office, Boise Valley Economic Partnership, there is a steady flow of businesses interested in expanding or relocating to the area. While their decision is driven by economics and quality of life, workforce availability and diversity have become paramount. Living in a region with only 3 percent unemployment makes Mayor Bieter’s call to embrace diversity good business sense. I applaud Mayor Bieter for stepping out in front of this important issue to our great community.
