Letters to the Editor

Letter: Hillary Clinton

“Clinton’s calculated response underscores Planned Parenthood crisis.” This was the title of a national newspaper editorial. For many months recent headlines have stated that Hillary Clinton is not trustworthy. In her own words, here is a quote from a Planned Parenthood publication. Hillary Clinton remarked at a Planned Parenthood Federation of American Awards Gala in Houston, Texas, March 27, 2009.

“Now, I have to tell you that it was a great privilege when I was told that I would receive this award. I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity and her vision. The overarching mission of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the case of reproductive freedom that you continue to advance today is relevant to our world today as it was 100 years ago.

“You see, I believe that women’s right and empowerment is an indispensable ingredient of smart power and therefore is integrated into our renewed emphasis on diplomacy and development. Congress has also approved the (Obama) administration’s request for $525 million in bilateral assistance for family planning and reproductive health education programs this year, because I and the administration are not wavering in our commitments to development assistance even in these tough times.”
