The veterans service groups and most of the civic organizations have completed their state conventions. It has been a distinct honor and privilege for me to be able to attend many of those conventions. They all have the same goal: to make life better for veterans and their families. Their goals are always “look to help our newest veterans and their families, as well as the families of those brave men and women who continue to fight to keep this nation free.” We as veterans of all groups must make an effort every day to check on the families of our deployed soldiers. Fellowship them, help them with daily needs that they may have, and when their servicemen or women return, become that battle buddy he or she left behind. We must also, as each group continues to surface, make sure all schools understand how important our freedoms are and always honor our nation’s flag. We must influence schools on how important our nation’s flag is, and continue to involve schoolchildren in our programs and activities. Thank you, Idaho veterans and service groups, for helping take care of our nation’s heroes.
