I could not disagree more with the recent letters expressing negativity towards the police in this country, especially those in Boise. There are a few bad eggs in every walk of life, but to suggest that there are only “a few good cops” is ridiculous.
The comment from Karen Biancchetti that they will “shoot animals first, then ask questions” points out how silly this statement really is. Imagine a dog charging at you, full speed, and you have just a split-second to take defensive action in order to avoid serious injury. Would you stop to ask the dog questions? Perhaps “wait, why are you coming after me when I’m just here to help?” would be appropriate. I’ve been there. It wouldn’t work.
These officers are our neighbors and friends. They have families that love them. And when they put on their uniforms and go out every day to protect us, it isn’t for the high salary. It’s because of their passion for the community and opportunity to make a difference. They would still like to go home in one piece after their shift ends. God bless them. So, who do you plan to call if you need help?
