Letter: Gay marriage

I’m sorry, Gov. Otter, but you, our Sens. Risch and Crapo, and Rep. Labrador have all got it wrong. You have decided that the individual states as opposed to the federal courts should have the authority to approve gay marriage and other LGBT unions within their jurisdictions.

I respectfully state that none of you gentlemen mentioned above should be deciding such a vital question as legal marriage between two consenting LGBT adults. This is an individual God-given right that all people around the world should have. Love in its myriad forms is a wonderful gift to us all, and no misguided state-elected officials should be permitted to interfere with the loving unions between individuals that the Supreme Court has recently recognized and sanctioned as the law for all states to follow.
