Although the Affordable Care Act has improved health care access, it has provided little in the way of cost control. It was anticipated that without cost control measures, health care costs would rise dramatically. This appears to be happening in Idaho as indicated by requested increases in health insurance rates for 2016 of 10 percent to 100 percent, with the least expensive plans rising the most.
Is it time to go to a national single-payer system with administrative cost savings of 20-50 percent as proposed by Dr. Steffie Wolhandler?
