Opened the June 24 paper, (as I always do), and could not agree more with Peggy Simpson regarding excessive force by the police. She was spot on with her letter. Police get away with way too much everywhere in the country. In this state (as I have said before), cops here shoot animals first, then ask questions. And there are the wonderful firemen that save people and animals first, then ask questions. What gives the right for cops to act the way they do? No one is above the law. Only police (with the exception of a few good cops) think they are. And Peggy is absolutely correct stating what she did. Don’t forget, you cops work and get paid by us, so do what the saying is: Do the right thing. Maybe we should send them back to class regarding abusive acts. Clean up your acts, that includes all of you “Barney Fifes” out there that need a refresher course on how your jobs should be done. We rely on you, pay your salaries, commend you when you actually do something good, so do what is constitutionally correct. If you don’t, you could end up as security guards somewhere.
