Letter: Obey leash laws

What is happening to us? I run daily in my local neighborhood (in Ada County) with my dog. We have been attacked by other dogs too many times to count. More times than not I am verbally assaulted. Ada County has a leash law no one seems to accept. While I keep my dog on leash the owners of these aggressive dogs seem to feel it’s somehow my fault. I have been verbally abused, physically threatened and most never admit fault, responsibility or even find out if we are OK. I love animals and hate to take it out on the dogs, but because of owners’ ignorance or thoughtlessness who reside in this county, I have to start protecting myself and dog. The national idea that the victim is the criminal has crept into our community.
