Letter: Canadian oil

Speculation has proposed that North America can save our oil by consuming foreign oil first, thus making our petroleum more valuable. The fact is that Canada is going to sell to the U.S. or to China. We have an inherent advantage as Keystone is closer to us and cheaper to build. The alternative is for Canada to build a pipeline to their west coast over extremely rough country at great expense. I personally spoke with an American oil company executive and he states that Canada will eventually make that choice if we fiddle away the opportunity. Canada prefers to sell to the U.S.

The choice is whether China buys the oil or the United States. With any kind of major world conflict we will be pleased to have that pipeline and oil supply under Canadian and American control.
