The Statesman article by Cynthia Sewell and the follow-up Statesman editorial shed important light on our community’s recycling efforts. While Boise has made some progress, it is obvious we have a long way to go. I appreciate having my business, Diamond Street Recycling, mentioned as part of the solution. What would really move the recycling efforts forward would be total support from our state, city and county officials. When I opened our recycling business in 2009, I extended invitations to all of those officials to tour our facility — no one showed up. And sorry to say even the Statesman business reporter ignored my invitation. Rather than complaining about how much recyclable materials are dumped in our landfill, we need to promote recycling options beyond the use of blue bins.
