Positive economic news. That was the Guest Opinion/Boise Tourism by Carrie Westergard, executive director of the Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau, in the Statesman. The impact of visitors, meetings, conventions and events, as stated by her, was $750 million last year. Therefore, as a local taxpayer and resident, it offsets some of your local and state taxes you pay. The return on investment for the money spent in promotion for this area by the bureau and the visitor industry is minimal in comparison. The visitor industry is big business with big competition. Appreciate and support the aggressive and professional staff that do everything they can to induce tourism to come to the Boise area and enjoy a breath of fresh air, it’s money in your pocket.
