Letter: Oil reserves

In response to Ed Lewis of Caldwell (May 18): While I perfectly understand his frustration with importing oil from the Middle East and other countries, over the longer term it makes more economic sense for the U.S. to use up foreign reserves first, in turn making our own reserves and our neighbor’s (Canada) much more valuable in the future. Remember the Bond movie “Goldfinger”? Mr. Goldfinger wanted to taint the world’s gold supply in Fort Knox with a dirty nuclear bomb, making his own supply much more valuable. Same principle here.
