Your article on the death of President Emeritus Robert L. Hendren referred to him as the “savior” of The College of Idaho.
That description is accurate. Also accurate is your description of his abiding love for the college during and following his 12 years as president.
In testament to that love, your readers should know that Bob Hendren’s love extended well into recent history. After I was named president in 2009, Bob hosted me for periodic lunches, during which he graciously shared his wealth of connections with influential people in Idaho and beyond. Four days before he died I was able to share with the C of I community that the college had completed our $175 million comprehensive fundraising campaign a year earlier than forecast.
Several major gifts to that campaign were the direct result of advice given and connections conveyed by Bob Hendren. His love for the college endured in both an emotional and practical manner.
