Thursday May 21, I was cycling on East Amity Road about 5 p.m. near the intersection with Federal Way when I came upon two submerged access plates about a meter apart. I hit the first one and was about able to recover, but then I hit the second and did a header over the handlebars and a subsequent face plant on the asphalt road. I was pretty beat up. Two nice ladies stopped to offer assistance. I didn’t feel I needed it, but I thanked them for stopping. I made my way back home and my wife drove me to Saint Al’s immediate care facility on Federal Way. Wonderful, very professional folks there. Sixteen stitches later and multiple Band-Aids and I was back home.
I didn’t get the names of the two caring women who stopped to offer me assistance. I was a bit traumatized and not thinking clearly. I hope they read this because I want to thank them for offering assistance, directing traffic around me, and simply being caring and concerned citizens.
