The Idaho Legislature’s decision to shelve Medicaid redesign is fiscally irresponsible and morally reprehensible. Experts of all political stripes say that because the Legislature failed to act, more than 400 Idahoans will die needlessly each year. The debunked “death panels” — bureaucrats who would supposedly decide whether some are worthy of care and some are not — have given way to something no less sinister but far more real. Now, at least in Idaho, we know what a “death panel” looks like. It looks like the Republican majority in the Idaho Legislature.
