Letter: Intolerance

The Arkansas and Indiana Religious Freedom Legislation is another cloak for intolerance and bigotry.

Intolerance of others’ creeds, faiths, orientation, politics and lifestyles is a cancer to the democratic way of life. Reminders of where this could go? Here are three 20th century dictators by death toll, according to thedailybeast.com in millions:

1. Mao Zedong (45 m - 75 m), 2. Joseph Stalin (40 m - 62 m), 3. Adolf Hitler (17 m - 20 m).

Exaggerated? By extent, yes, but not by mechanism. All three marginalized and then murdered Christians, Jews, intellectuals and of course LGTBs, etc.

We, of course, have our own forgetfulness. How “so-called” minorities died for us and brought us prosperity, e.g. highest percentage of millionaires per 1,000 in the UK are those Indians who were expelled from Uganda or 583,000 Indian Nationals served under British direction in the Second World War, and then there was that small matter of the Civil War.

Now, today we have those who pervert a world religion for their own evil intent.

What’s this got to do with me? I hear some asking. If you see or feel intolerance, say something.
