House Bill 311 was another last-minute shaft of the working people of Idaho, right before the Legislature penned up their dogs and ponies and left town. Under House Bill 311 the wealthiest one percent of Idahoans (the Legislature and their friends) get a reduction in their state income tax rates, while those earning from $21,000 to $60,000 get a steep increase in the rates they will pay. It seems someone has to pay to keep the lights on, and it looks like most of the burden is going to fall on the majority who have been paying all the bills all along.
Note: HB 311 passed the House but was killed in the Senate.
