Martin letter: Climate change

Climate change should be included in Idaho’s K-12 curriculum. Climate change is real, and the adverse effects are happening now worldwide. Cape Town, a city of 4 million people, is going dry. Paris is flooding. Idaho forests are burning. Our weather is abnormal.

Idaho Legislature, resist the climate denial pressure of the Koch Brothers, the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and the Heartland Institute. Their goal: Further their fossil fuel interests and pad their billionaire wallets. Students in other countries and other American states are studying climate change. Will you deny Idaho students the ability to compete academically with them? Deny Idaho students awareness of their dark future if they aren’t able to understand the causes of climate change and how to mitigate its effects? Give Idaho kids a chance to prepare for their future. Maybe someday an Idaho kid will figure out how to make the Earth livable again.
