The new members of the West Ada School District Board of Trustees stand on a platform of transparency. Yet, during Julie Madsen’s campaign, not once was she transparent in stating her intention of bringing the important business of this district, education of our youth, to a screeching halt while she busied herself with public, petty attacks alienating Superintendent Linda Clark. At no point did she state her intention to mire our district in unproductive drama. This board seems to have forgotten their work: educating our youth. That is the sole reason this district and board exist. While this board entertains their folly, 35,000 students suffer the most dire consequences of the board’s actions. Rather than supporting our administrations and educators, this board is adding stress to their workload, second-guessing and dismissing the professionals. The failure of the upcoming supplemental levy vote (that none seems focused on) would be tragic. Our community is blessed to be led by such a strong superintendent. This board was elected to support the education of our children. Get on with it. Be your best selves. Act as role models. Show maturity in making amends with Clark and starting over. Our children deserve better.
