Periods of light snow might complicate last-minute Christmas shopping in the Boise area Thursday, with the weather turning drier and colder starting Christmas Day and continuing into the weekend, meteorologists reported.
Up to an inch of snow could fall by Thursday afternoon, with more at higher elevations. Temperatures in the Treasure Valley will hover around freezing before dropping into the mid-teens Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service in Boise.
Christmas Day will be partly sunny and cold with highs in the mid-twenties and overnight lows in the low teens. Saturday and Sunday will be sunny but overnight lows will be in the single digits Saturday night, warming to the mid-teens Sunday night. Those trends will continue early next week.
Roads closed Wednesday due to weather, including Interstate 84 in eastern Idaho to the Utah border, reopened in the afternoon.
