Monday’s high temperature didn’t break record, but it came close

Sunny skies brought Monday’s high temperature to 77, just two degrees short of the record high of 79 set in 2004.

Monday tied for the warmest afternoon so far this year. The Boise temperature also reached 77 on March 27. Overnight Sunday, a low of 45 degrees was recorded. That was only four degrees below the record for the highest low temperature of 49 degrees set in 1978.

The normal low this time of year is 37 degrees. The normal high is 58 degrees.

And temperatures are returning to normal range on Tuesday as a cold front moves through the area, the National Weather Service reports.

A 40 percent chance of rain in the Treasure Valley is predicted for Tuesday afternoon. The high temperature is expected to dip to 61 degrees, according to the weather service.

That cooling trend will continue Wednesday, with a forecast high of 51 degrees. Overnight, the temperature will be close to freezing, with a slight chance of rain and snow showers Thursday.
