Rep. Mike Simpson said today he wants to stay in the House of Representatives.
Simpson was under consideration to replace Sen. Larry Craig in the Senate when Craig resigns at the end of the month.
But Simpson said staying on the House Appropriations Committee was critical for Idaho since Senate Republicans leaders said they would not give Craig's successor his seat on the committee that decides how Congress spends money.
"Losing both appropriation seats would be devastating to the state," Simpson said.
