Sen. Jim Risch is backing Marco Rubio for President. In a news release from Rubio’s Idaho campaign operation, Risch praised the Florida senator’s positions on the economy and foreign policy and his “quick grasp of the serious issues that arise here.” He said Rubio’s “communication skills, which are so important in this business, are unparalleled.”
State Controller Brandon Woolf, who chairs Rubio’s Idaho campaign, said it was important for Idaho Republicans to “coalesce behind a single candidate in the March presidential primary.” A candidate who wins more than 50 percent of the primary vote will claim all 32 of Idaho’s delegates at the party’s nominating convention.
Risch is the second member of Idaho’s Congressional delegation to publicly commit to a presidential candidate. Rep. Raul Labrador supports Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul. Rep. Mike Simpson and Sen. Mike Crapo have not yet endorsed a candidate.
