No members of Idaho’s all-Republican delegation were at the GOP baseball practice when gunfire erupted at a field outside Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning.

Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch, and Congressmen Mike Simpson and Raul Labrador all tweeted messages of support and prayer for those who were there. Spokespeople said none of the lawmakers or their staff members were in attendance at the practice in Alexandria, Va. Labrador tweeted that he and his staff were not there.

“Clearly his thoughts and prayers are with Congressman Scalise and everyone involved,” Simpson spokeswoman Nikki Wallace said, adding that an official statement will be issued later this morning. Spokesmen for Risch and Crapo also indicated statements are forthcoming.
“Everyone’s shaken, to say the least,” said Kaylin Minton, communications director for Risch.
The Congressional baseball teams have existed since 1909, with Democrats and Republicans playing for charity. This year’s game is scheduled for Thursday and will be played as planned. Here’s the roster of players.
