Tuesday’s Caldwell School District Zone 2 election was close: incumbent Thomas Briten got 108 votes, and challenger Toni Waters got 104 votes.
Because the outcome was so close, Waters can contest the count. But because five ballots were incorrectly issued to Zone 1 residents, she’s holding off on making any decisions until the county addresses that error.
“There’s a lot of unanswered questions,” she said Friday morning.
Canyon County commissioners are set to canvass the election results on Tuesday. Waters plans to make her decision after that process is complete, she said.
“I’m not going to make that decision until they finish the canvassing Tuesday,” she said.
