Fresh off endorsing Todd Hatfield's challenge to incumbent state Controller Brandon Woolf, U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador gave his support Monday morning to state Sen. Russ Fulcher, who seeks to replace Gov. Butch Otter.

In a press release, Labrador commended Fulcher for his "bold ideas and a plan to improve the state's economy."

"Butch Otter has done a lot of things to admire in office. But after 40 years in government, he has lost his way. Under his leadership, Idaho has not lived up to its potential," Labrador said in the release.

"Idahoans are looking for leaders with political courage and fresh ideas. Russ Fulcher has both."

Fulcher returned the compliment, saying in the release that the congressman "has always put a premium on doing the right thing and standing up for his constituents. That's the kind of leadership I intend to bring to the Statehouse if I'm elected governor."
