Idahoans pitching in for Texas disaster-relief efforts

The American Red Cross of Idaho seeks volunteers and donations to help with disaster-relief efforts in flood-ravaged Houston, Texas.

One local volunteer is already en route, with "many others mobilizing to deploy in the days to come," said Nicole Sirak-Irwin, CEO of the American Red Cross of Idaho and Montana.

Nearly two feet of rain resulted in devastating floods around the greater Houston metro area Monday, and the American Red Cross is on the ground, providing shelter, meals and comfort to residents forced from their homes.

Idahoans can donate online, by calling 1-800-853-2570 or by sending contributions American Red Cross of Idaho, 5380 W. Franklin Road, Boise.
