Idaho native Jeff Zausch, co-host of Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival” and former contestant on the network’s “Naked and Afraid,” was in Turkey during the attempted takeover and chronicled his experience on social media.
“This isn’t the survival situation that we imagined,” wrote Zausch, who travels the world with co-host EJ Snyder showing viewers how to survive tough environments.
“Loud explosions, gunfire, low-flying fighter jets ... The world is literally falling apart outside, and this 25-year Army veteran is sleeping,” he said on Facebook, accompanied by a photo of Snyder dozing off in the pair’s hotel room. “I guess that’s a good sign, right?”

Zausch, who grew up near Pocatello, updated his status Saturday evening to let fans know that he and Snyder had caught a flight out of Istanbul and were headed to Africa to continue filming.
“Thank you to everyone for your prayers and positive thoughts,” he wrote.
