Muhammad Ali was stripped of his World Heavyweight Champion titles and banned from boxing after he refused to be inducted into the U.S. Army. He objected on religious grounds, but was convicted of draft evasion and sentenced to serve 5 years in prison. His conviction was overturned in 1971.
