A two-vehicle crash in Caldwell left one person dead and sent four to the hospital Monday night.
A 28-year-old Guatemalan man was driving a pickup truck west on East Linden Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the South Kimball Avenue intersection at about 9:20 p.m. and collided with a sedan, Idaho State Police said in a news release.
The sedan driver died at the scene, while the three juveniles and the pickup driver were taken by ambulance to a local hospital, according to the release.
The Canyon County Coroner identified the deceased as 35-year-old Miguel Vasquez of Caldwell. The coroner’s office said he died from his injuries and “an autopsy will be conducted to determine the extent of those injuries.”
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time,” Canyon County Coroner Jennifer Crawford said in a Tuesday statement.
Law enforcement later arrested the pickup’s driver. Canyon County Jail records show Idaho State Police booked a man on a vehicular manslaughter charge at 12:50 a.m.
The intersection was blocked to traffic for more than three hours.
Idaho State Police is investigating the accident. The agency was assisted at the scene by Canyon County Paramedics, the Caldwell Police Department and the Caldwell Fire Department.
