Idahoans affected by organ, eye and tissue donations, whether as recipients or donors, combined their artistic efforts in the creation of a special story quilt. Each square in the Threads of Life quilt carries its own special meaning for the person who made it. Organizers will unveil the story quilt at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, at the Idaho Transportation Department, 3311 W. State St. in Boise.

The Threads of Life Quilt is dedicated to the memory of those who gave the gift of life, sight and mobility. The ITD will display the quilt through August. ITD encourages Idahoans to register as organ donors. Idaho has a registration rate of 63 percent, higher than the national average of 53 percent. See an online “scrapbook” about the quilt and the stories it contains online at yesidaho.org. The website also offers information about organ, eye and tissue donation and directions for signing up on the Idaho Donor Registry.
