Art Contest Celebrates KinCare Families

The state invited Idaho children living in "KinCare" with grandparents and other extended family members to explore the meaning of family through poems, essays and drawings in the fourth annual art contest "My Family. My Story," earlier this year.

Gov. Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter will announce the names of art contest winners at a special event, 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 18 at the governor's Ceremonial Office in the Idaho Statehouse, 700 W. Jefferson St., Boise.

A cake and ice cream reception will follow at Capitol Park across the street from the Capitol with a special reading by the First Lady.

KinCare families and the public are invited to attend the presentation and reception.

More about KinCare families: In Idaho, more than 29,000 children live in households headed by grandparents or other relatives. This prevents kids from going into the foster care system.
