The Idaho Air National Guard sent six A-10 Thunderbolt jets and personnel to the Persian Gulf for a training exercise, according to the Idaho National Guard.
The planes arrived to the region on Friday. The training is projected to help Air Force units hone their combat skills and procedures, according to an Idaho National Guard press release. So far the unit has already participated in one exercise, according to the release.
"We want to give our young pilots the experience of flying in the Arabian Gulf and allow them to see what it's like operating with different procedures in different countries," said Lt. Col. Anthony Brown
The units are not taking part in coalition operations against ISIS, according to the press release.
