Spc. Racie Brookshier’s “adopted family” met her at Gowen field. They got reacquainted as a boom box played “tie a yellow ribbon ’round the old oak tree” on a truck driven by a VFW member from Payette.
“I was glad I missed the plan because I would have been bawling,” said Danielle Larimer, a friend and former roommate.
Just then a little girl shook Larimer’s pant leg, looked up at her with innocent eyes and asked: “Are you crying again?”
