Parma Police Department is investigating an incident of vandalism as possibly being linked to a fire that burned near JC Watson Packing Co. Tuesday morning, Police Chief Albert Erickson said.
The fire was called in just before 5 a.m. Tuesday and took the work of several fire departments to extinguish. About 1,000 wooden crates and a shed were burned in the blaze on 201 E. Main St., but there were no injuries and no nearby homes were lost.
The fire hasn’t been ruled arson, but it is being investigated as suspicious.
“It didn’t just all of a sudden flare up into existence,” Erickson said.

He said two juveniles have admitted to vandalizing trucks at nearby Parma Furniture, also on Tuesday morning.
It’s not certain the two incidents are linked, but police are seeking evidence, he said.
The vandalism was substantial enough to be tried as a felony if the two juveniles were adults. The cost in damage to the trucks could be well more than $3,000, Erickson said.
