Firefighters contained two new fires on the Salmon-Challis National Forest Sunday as five others continued to burn that started by lightning Friday.
The Millick Gulch and Geertson fires were contained at one tenth of an acre. Meanwhile the Three Mile Fire East of Anderson Mountain and north of Dahlonega Creek near North Fork north of Salmon had burned 15 acres. Thirty firefighters were fighting the blaze that closed roads and trails.
Four other fires burned in and around the Frank Church River of No Return. Only the 30-acre Golden Trout Fire in the Bighorn Crags is being fought with about 40 firefighters and a helicopter assigned,
The fire is burning in subalpine fire with dead and down timber. Roads in the area are closed.
