A fire that has burned nearly 6,000 acres in the Grimes Creek area is about 92 percent contained as of Sunday, according to fire officials.
About 570 personnel are working on the Walker Fire to secure containment lines. They’re using 6 helicopters, 13 engines and one bulldozer to fight the blaze, officials reported.
Evacuations for the Grimes Creek and Clear Creek area put in place Oct. 10, were lifted later in the week.
A community meeting with information on the fire will be held in the Idaho City Community Center Monday at 6:30 p.m. There officials will discuss their fire-fighting strategies and progress.
