About 25 people in Valley County homes were warned by the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday to prepare for evacuation near the Missouri Fire, a blaze that’s stretched to 1,194 acres.
The fire was last reported as having only 5 percent of its perimeter contained, after being ignited by lightning on July 15.
A Level 1 Ready evacuation order has been issued for the Edwardsburg and Big Creek areas by Valley County Sheriff Patti Bolen. This order is in effect until further notice.
The Level 1 is an alert to residents to be ready to evacuate if conditions worsen. It is not a mandatory evacuation. The subdivision that has been warned is made up of 32 homes, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
