Shortly after West Ada School District lost its school construction bond last August, I got a call from a clearly distressed reader.
He wanted to know why we didn't report much on the bond and why whenever there was a story is always seemed to quote school officials or others in support of the bond.
Fair questions. I told him I thought we did do a lot of reporting. I had a front-page Sunday story on the bond and we did other stories.
I couldn't argue on his concern that he didn't see enough opponents in the paper. This is no excuse, but often those folks don't come forward or hold "People Against the Bond" rallies.
We can do better.
Now that West Ada School District is trying for a bond again on March 10, I thought I'd make even more of an effort to find taxpayers who will pay for the schools and hear what they think.
Whether you oppose this bond or love it, I want to hear form you. If you have questions, I want to try to answer them. I would like to see a lot of viewpoints in the paper or at Idahostatesman.com.
Social media and traditional communications give you lots of way to get in touch with me.
