Boise State University broke state records with the most public university students graduating in one academic year, with 4,000 graduates.
About 1,500 students celebrated their graduation at Taco Bell Arena Saturday. There are 2,383 eligible graduates for the 2015 spring semester, according to the university.
At the ceremony an honorary doctorate was awarded to Greg Carr, an Idaho native, for his philanthropic human welfare work. Students got on their feet for a student speaker, Yara Slaton, an Egyptian immigrant, who told her story about meeting her goals and breaking out of stereotypes, according to the university.
