Idaho State Board of Education executive director takes South Dakota job

Mike Rush, executive director for the State Board of Education since 2007, will become executive director and CEO of the South Dakota Board of Regents in June.

Rush was a program manager for the Division of Professional-Technical Development in 1986. He was named administrator of that agency in 1997.

As State Board executive director, Rush helped improve the number of students taking dual-credit courses for both college and high school and worked to increased the state's college scholarship awards through the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship program.

“Mike Rush has been a leader in Idaho education for nearly 30 years,” said Emma Atchley, State Board president.

The State Board has not announced a process for selecting a new executive director.
